Ben Madore – 2019 Volunteer of the Year
Massive shout out to Ben Madore, Ausome’s volunteer of the Year for 2019!
Ben has been a dedicated volunteer with Ausome for the last 2.5 years. When Ben started volunteering with Ausome in August 2017, program staff immediately knew he would be a valuable member of the Ausome team. We asked Ben to formally join our Ausome Program team in March 2018.
While working for Ausome, Ben also worked at Hydro One — busy guy! He found out in December 2018 that Hydro One has a “Benevity” program, which donates funds to charities where their employees volunteer. When Ben realized his Ausome hours could actually turn into donations for Ausome, he immediately decided that he wanted to go back to being a volunteer! That’s right! BEN IS AUSOME!
In January 2019, Ben stepped down as staff (even though he was scheduled at many Ausome programs) but continued to volunteer his time each week so that Ausome could not only benefit from his volunteer time, but also financially from the Benevity program.
It is with heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to Ben this year. He is on to his next adventure in Barrie, where he will be taking on a new job and living closer to family. While we are happy for him, staff, volunteers and our Ausome families will deeply miss him.
Ausome TRULY appreciates all that Ben has done for our organization and Ausome athletes! We could not think of anyone more deserving to be Ausome’s Volunteer of the Year for 2019!
