Ausome's 2017 Volunteer of the Year

Majd Haddad

“The sky is the limit” is Majd Haddad’s anthem. You might recognize Majd — having moved to Canada from Syria in July 2016, he’s been a regular at Ausome programs, volunteering every week from January to April 2017, and again at Camp Days. Majd chooses to share his time with us because, “Ausome provides a very unique community service, helping kids living with autism to practice sports in a lovely social environment is hugely important since most of these kids might not have such opportunity in real life.”

Majd’s favourite Ausome memory: “April I went to the weekly basketball program with Ausome although I had a final exam the next day. We spent an amazing time shooting hoops with the kids, and then I was surprisingly named as the volunteer of the month, I was really proud for that!! P.S I did reasonably well in that final the next day!”

When not volunteering, Majd is working on his biomedical sciences program. He is planning to stay dedicated to Ausome as long as possible. “Whether I stay or move anywhere else, Ausome will always be my most memorable and motivating community service experience, because we are AUSOME!”
