Ausome Sport Program Volunteer

If you’re looking to learn a new skill, give back to your community, meet new people, gain experience, or inspire others, volunteering with Ausome is, well….. Ausome!

We are always looking for passionate and energetic Sport Program volunteers. Our volunteers bring unique gifts, and represent a wide range of ages, cultures, and abilities.

You do not need previous experience with autism. All program volunteers are trained and work with qualified staff to provide individualized support to youth and children living with autism at our many different sports programs. Programs operate across the city of Ottawa, and almost all are easily accessible by public transportation.

Throughout your dedicated time with Ausome, you will witness real change as a result of your efforts. Time commitments required by our volunteers vary, depending on the program they are supporting.

Requirements:

• Enthusiasm and excitement to be active! You are attending an Ausome sports program! Some programs are high energy — you will be expected to run, sweat and move.
• Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check (from the past 6 months) for any volunteer 18+.
• A minimum commitment of 3 hours per month.
• Completion of a volunteer application form.

Recommendations:

• It’s strongly encouraged that all volunteers participate in our community training. Our specialized training will provide you with the tools to become an amazing Ausome volunteer and work with children with autism. Training is FREE to all Ausome volunteers.

How do I register as a volunteer?

• Follow the instructions in our Volunteer Registration PDF to create an account on our volunteer registration platform and then submit a volunteer application.
• Keep an eye on your inbox for a ‘next steps’ email to complete your application. You will be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Police Check, Resume and Profile Photo in order to be approved as a volunteer.
• Once approved, you can find immediately find volunteering opportunities under the ‘Programs’ tab. You will also begin to receive a biweekly newsletters about upcoming news and volunteering opportunities!
